Clinical Observation on the Effect of Secondary Antituberculous Drugs

Abstract
The clinical effectivenesss of secondary antituberculous drugs in combination was studied on 115 active pulmonary tuberculosis patients who were clinically resistant to primary anti-tuberculous drugs.
The effectiveness was evaluated by bacteriologicyally or roentgenologically for at Ieast every 3 months.
The rate of sputum negative conversion were 81.6% in all patient, 81.2% in two combination, 81.5% in three combination and 83.3% in four combination.
The roentgenological improvement occurred in 68.7%, but not so remarkable that of negative conversion of the sputum.
The clinical effectiveness was occured in 80% of all patients. Seventy five percent in two combination, eighty one percent in three combination and eighty five percent in four combination was effective in treatment with second line antituberculous drugs.
Judging from above result, the effectiveness of secondary antituberculous drugs was increased with according to number of combination but much caution was needed because of their toxicity.
